Location: Showroom in South Melbourne

Hosted by Lou Wong from Dumpling Mania

Lou brings a lifetime of dumpling expertise to the table. Trained by her mother in the art of crafting these culinary treasures, she possesses an intimate understanding of every fold, pleat, and perfect filling.

A highly experienced instructor, Lou has been a beloved part of the MIJ family since our move to Wynyard St in 2014, sharing her knowledge and passion with countless students.

Join Sensei Lou for this workshop and discover the secrets of truly exceptional dumplings.

What's on the menu:

  1. Wontons with Chinese 5-spice infused beef and vegetables - served with chilli sauce.
  2. Pork and prawn 'Siu Mai' - a classic steamed yum cha favourite.
  3. Pork gyoza - also known as potstickers or jiao zi, these little delights are pan-fried.

What's included:

  • Learn about the preparation of fillings
  • Discuss ready-made wrappers and how to shape the dumplings
  • Participants make their own dumplings!
  • Cook and eat the dumplings before repeating the process for the next batch
  • Enjoy a hot brew of Japanese tea
  • Lou will share tips about pleating and shaping dumplings, how to freeze dumplings, cooking methods, and her favourite kitchen tools. In addition, you will receive detailed recipes, so you can recreate what you learn in this Dumpling Mania workshop!
